Comic, or Manga, is a historical form of art. The ancient Egypt mural can be considered as a kind of manga, which tells the stories of Pharaoh. Comic is also a very direct and powerful communication medium. For example, the U.S. government used the Uncle Sam poster for army recruitment in the World War I.
In recent years, converting and creating information, including comics, in a digital format has become an irresistible trend. Additionally, this trend brings the new possibility for presenting comics in a completely new way. Meanwhile, the advance of AI, such as deep learning, provides new approaches for analyzing and extracting information from comics. Now “Comic Computing” has become a new research frontier worthy of exploration, based on the above facts. Therefore, we organize this workshop to provide a platform for researchers and experts to share and exchange their ideas and results of comic computing.
